The divisions continue to grow.
(Rev. Moon and his wife with Rev. Kwak during the Peace Cup in the summer of 2009)
Though we have been quiet on the issues of Hyun Jin divide in the church, things are continuing and division is advancing. It is very shameful that friendships and relationships have been hurt because of this divide, and threats and pressure to “choose a side” are occurring in the Moonie community. We felt called to blog about the issues after several announcements and statements have been issued by the American Unification Church to cut off ties with GPF. There has been instruction for “members of the Unification Church and church foundations should not support [Global Peace Festival (GPF)] and other GPF related activities.”
Peter Kim’s wife was not afraid to call Hyun Jin Moon a criminal and has also denounced Rev. Kwak on her tour. Other tours addressing issues have been done and similar, but much more subtle, statements have been made. Church authorities have put out that True Parents do not support the GPF, though conflicting reports have come out of Hoon Dok Hae. Those who support Hyun Jin and Rev. Kwak say that there is great misunderstanding within the True Family and claim Hyun Jin has acted civilly and truly wants to advance “True Parent’s dream”. We have received many documents from supporters proving that Hyun Jin has not done anything illegal and has shown that his behavior is not rude nor destructive in any way. Though much rhetoric comes from the mouths of Hyun Jin supporters, it amazes me that they never push blame to In Jin and are extremely humble about the situation, even though Hyun Jin supporters are practically in exile and are looked down upon.
Supporters of In Jin and other tools have openly called Hyun Jin “selfish” and “power-hungry”, even though there are many signs pointing In Jin to fit a description. She is furthering confusion and spreading lies and half-truths about her brother, as well as creating division in the so-called “Unification” Church. Her propaganda has caused persecution for members working with GPF and Hyun Jin/Kwak-related organizations. How do people support such a woman? I promise you, the more you look into her past, her actions, and her character from a wider perspective (not from her speeches), you will see more than a flawed woman. You will find a destructive, power-hungry tumor.
If there was a side to choose, I’d choose Hyun Jin. Even if he is violent and is a pretty sucky public speaker.
It is interesting that as this is happening, rumors have sprung out of Westchester that Hyun Jin has cheated on his wife and is a cocaine addict. Could this be a product of rival parties wanted to destroy Hyun Jin’s credibility even further? Most likely.
We do not support the Unification Church in any way whatsoever, but these conflicts are honestly shameful for people—families—are being hurt. The Kwak family, a notably “fruitful” family, has experienced judgment and has been damaged by these divisions, as well as many other families and people involved with Hyun Jin. This “Family Federation” is anything but.
